Peer Reviews

I have learned a great deal from reviewing other ePortfolios. I have learned what to do and what not to do. When visiting my peers’ ePortfolios I saw various ways to display information. Some had creative graphics and photos while others used colors to add interest to their site. I learned that the content in the different tabs needs to flow and make sense in the order that it is placed. Text font and color do make a difference in the ePortfolio. I found that having the background one color and the text in a different shade of the same color made it a bit difficult to read. Reviewing other ePortfolios shed light on some ways I could change the flow of content in my ePortfolio and inspired me to implement my own creativity to the site.

Receiving feedback on my own ePortfolio was encouraging. I dove into this discussion assignment with a growth mindset and receiving feedback from my peers on my own ePortfolio was encouraging. I took what Dr. Harapnuik said about how moving towards feedforward is a more effective way to view and contribute to these ePortfolio reviews and accepted the advice and suggestions with an open mind.

“Feedforward points to opportunities and provides pathways for improvement and growth. In contrast, feedback is summative because it is backward-looking at what was wrong” (Harapnuik, 2020).

I know there is always room for improvement and I was excited to see what others would see in my work and how their feedback would help me grow and develop a better ePortfolio. Some of the feedback inspired me to make the changes but there were a couple of suggestions that didn’t resonate with me so I didn’t make the changes. It wasn’t bad advice, I just felt the way I had it reflected me and my personality.

My journey through reviewing ePortfolios and receiving constructive feedback has been invaluable in shaping my own project. I’ve gained insights into effective design and content organization, recognizing the importance of flow, readability, and creativity. The lessons learned from my peers highlighted both best practices and pitfalls, guiding me to refine my ePortfolio while allowing my personality to shine through. Embracing Dr. Harapnuik's concept of feedforward has encouraged me to focus on growth opportunities, and I’ve learned to approach feedback with an open mind, knowing that improvement is always possible.
