5315 Assessing Digital Learning & Instruction

By integrating technology as a tool to support pedagogical objectives, educators can create dynamic and interactive learning environments that cater to diverse learning styles. This intentional use of technology fosters critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity among students, preparing them for the ever-evolving digital world.

Moreover, involving students in the decision-making process about which technologies to use can empower them, giving them a sense of ownership over their learning journey. This participatory approach not only increases motivation but also builds essential skills such as problem-solving and adaptability.

In the end, the true measure of success lies in the ability to create a learning ecosystem where technology and pedagogy coexist harmoniously, driving student success and fostering an enduring love for learning.

This outline serves as a preliminary framework for my action research project. It is designed to help me clarify the focus of my study, define my research question, select an appropriate research design (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods), and identify the types of data and measurement tools I will use. Additionally, it connects my research plan to the focus of my literature review and aligns with my previously developed innovation plan. The outline will guide the development of my full action research plan.

This literature review explores the impact of implementing Leader in Me (LIM) electronic portfolios (ePortfolios) in elementary classrooms, particularly within a LIM Lighthouse school setting. It examines how ePortfolios support student leadership development by enhancing engagement, goal-setting, self-reflection, and real-world learning connections. Drawing from existing research, the review highlights major themes such as increased student motivation, improved self-regulation, deeper metacognitive growth, and stronger connections between learning and real-life applications. While much of the literature supports the educational value of ePortfolios, a gap remains in understanding their specific impact in elementary LIM environments. This review lays the groundwork for action research that aims to address this gap.

This literature review investigates the impact of implementing Leader in Me (LIM) electronic portfolios (ePortfolios)in elementary classrooms. The review is centered around a key question: How can ePortfolios enhance student leadership and learning in a LIM Lighthouse school setting?

The paper begins by introducing the context of a LIM Lighthouse school and the purpose behind exploring ePortfolios as a modern tool for student growth. ePortfolios are presented as interactive, student-centered platforms that support reflection, goal-setting, and real-world connections—core values of the LIM framework.
