5320 Synthesis of Digital Learning & Leadership

Effectively leading technological change starts with preparation, mindset, and a culture of continuous learning. When educators view innovation as an opportunity, they can use it to enhance instruction and drive meaningful growth. Supporting this shift means offering targeted professional development, encouraging experimentation, and fostering collaboration through communities of practice. Strong leadership is key—leaders must cast a clear vision, align goals, and provide the resources needed for success. By embracing change with a growth mindset and shared purpose, schools can create dynamic learning environments where both teachers and students thrive.

In my capstone reflection, I explored how the COVA approach (Choice, Ownership, Voice, and Authentic learning) and the Creating Significant Learning Environments (CSLE) framework have influenced my learning throughout the ADL program. In Part A, I reflected on when I first realized I had true choice and ownership in my learning and how I initially felt about taking responsibility for my own projects. I also considered how I adjusted to this new style of learning, what I would do differently now, and how my attitude toward leading change has evolved during the program. I discussed the authenticity of my innovation plan, examining whether I created it simply to complete coursework or with the intention to make a real impact. Finally, I reflected on how the COVA approach aligns (or doesn’t) with my learning philosophy and how my perspective on learning has changed over time.

In this part of my capstone, I am compiling all the components of my innovation project into a comprehensive section of my ePortfolio. The assignment asks me to reflect on the progress I’ve made so far and share my experiences. I will first identify where I currently am in my project and any remaining tasks I need to complete, along with deadlines for those tasks.

Next, I will analyze and reflect on the learning process I’ve undergone while working on the project. I will evaluate what worked well, what could have been done better, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. I’ll also consider how I plan to promote and communicate my innovation project moving forward.

In this final capstone assignment, I’m reflecting on my journey through the ADL program and organizing all of my work into a cohesive section of my ePortfolio.

For the first part, I’m creating a visual representation of my learning experience—highlighting where I started, what I created and accomplished, the challenges I faced, and what I’ve learned along the way.

In the second part, I’m pulling everything together into a well-structured ePortfolio section that includes my bio, innovation plan, learning philosophy, and key projects. This final product will show how all the pieces of my learning connect and support my growth as a digital learner and leader.
